Effective 1 September to 30 April, the Australian Government has reinforced biosecurity protocols to combat the Brown Marmorated Stink Bug (BMSB). International moving companies must ensure all household goods shipments from designated high-risk countries are treated using approved methods (heat, methyl bromide, or ethyl formate) prior to export. Shipments without compliant ‘shipped on board’ documentation risk re-export, onshore treatment, or destruction. These measures are mandatory and strictly enforced by the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry. For full guidelines and country lists, visit agriculture.gov.au/bmsb. Compliance is critical to avoid costly delays.
